Hi there.

Grab your favorite beverage, pull up a chair, and make yourself comfortable. My name is Stephanie. I’m mom to two, mostly grown, always homeschooled, kids. Former coach for Brave Writer’s Brave Learner Home community. Lover of YA literature. History geek. Photography buff. ENFP. Enneagram Type 9.

I don’t have a brand nor am I trying to develop one. I started my Throwing Marshmallows blog over 15 years ago as a place to document our homeschool journey. Now, I’m using it mostly as a place to capture my thoughts and musings. I’m using this substack as a way to let people subscribe to my blog. I intend to keep it free as I have never monetized my blog and have no desire to do so now.

In looking for an underlying theme to my writing (and to my life), I keep coming back to the idea of seeking understanding. I believe that it is a desire to understand—to make sense of—ourselves and others which drives so much of human nature, whether we are aware of it or not.

I write about whatever comes to mind: Relationships. Parenting. Homeschooling. Books. Mindfulness. Getting older. Befriending ourselves. Understanding others. Figuring out life.

So glad you are here.

About my blog: I invite you to take time and explore my blog: Throwing Marshmallows. There is lots to discover so I’ve pulled together highlights of over 15 years of blogging on various favorite topics here:

Homeschooling | Life | Books | Photography

About this substack: My initial plans are to use substack as a way folks can subscribe to receive email updates for my blog posts. With time, it may evolve into something different (which could be fun!) but I intend to keep it free for whoever wants to follow along.
